A Drink with a View
II had a friend visiting from San Francisco, and since our time together was limited to just an hour or two, we were in search of the perfect spot. We needed a place that was relaxed enough for conversation over drinks and snacks but also cool and awe-inspiring, perhaps with a touch of New York Glitz
In a city as bustling as New York City, finding such a place isn’t always easy, but we discovered that the 50th floor of the Ritz-Carlton in Nomad had the perfect answer: Nubeluz.
Nubeluz is a swanky albeit a little cheesy, cocktail lounge with jaw-dropping views. As soon as we stepped out of the elevator, we were greeted with an instant rush of vertigo and a breathtaking view of the Empire State Building in all its glory.
Upon turning right and entering the spacious room, we were surrounded by floor-to-ceiling windows that offered even more spectacular panoramic vistas. The view alone made the rather pricey drinks at the expansive and very comfortable bar, well worth it.
The interior was adorned with plush chairs, mirrored tables, and spacious banquettes, all strategically placed to take full advantage of the incredible scenery. While this place is part of the Ritz, the patrons ranged from dressed-up to casual locals and tourists. There was no obvious dress code.

Surprisingly, the atmosphere was quite relaxed, and the bar staff were friendly and not too snotty. We noticed some tempting hors d’oeuvres on offer, although we didn’t try them ourselves, but, judging by the empty plates around us, they seemed to hit the spot.
Although it can get crowded, you have the option to reserve a spot and even a window table, which looks like the best seats in the house. And, If you time your visit just right, you might be treated to a magnificent sunset to start, followed by the dazzling night lights of downtown Manhattan, creating a truly memorable experience.
